Destiny; What Does it Mean?

Destiny; it's definition is simple: a predetermined course of events. Destiny is something I often find myself thinking about, but I always find myself "lost in translation". Once in awhile I even feel like Ziva trying to understand why fish would be in a barrel, in a matter of speaking. It's something that really takes awhile to wrap your mind around. Your first train of thought would be, "Destiny. Okay...what's so interesting about that?" I find it interesting because it's not something 'earthly' or 'worldly', it's something is set even before you are born. It's that one thing that can't be changed or challenged.
I often come back to the voice-over Sean Murray did at the end of "Endgame" where he reads:

  • Anyone can achieve their fullest potential, who we are might be predetermined, but the path we follow is always of our own choosing. We should never allow our fears or the expectations of others to set the frontiers of our destiny. Your destiny can't be changed but, it can be challenged. Every man is born as many men and dies as a single one.
This quote has always been extremely influential in my life and very encouraging to me! If you delve even deeper into the realm of destiny you realize that everyone has their own, individual one. Just think about that. All 7 billion of us humans have their own unique destiny. Something we all have just for ourselves. I remember reading a passage in my history book that said: "You can take all of my belongings, friends, and family, but you can never take my faith or soul." Having that feeling that something is yours, that no one will ever be able to take something away, especially something so important, is an amazing feeling!
Ultimately, you may not know what your destiny is yet, but you have the comfort that something knows where you are going and "has your back".
